A Short Account on Outlook Add-Ins

MS Outlook is an advance email client. It has all the necessary functions to make email management task easy. If you still need to enhance your Outlook experience, choose its own set of add-ins. Some add-ins are useful for Outlook and others might not. They are activated as per your choice. These add-ins don’t play a major role in proper functioning of Outlook. They only enhance the function of Outlook. There are various misconceptions regarding Outlook add-ins like an add-in can interrupt the performance of Outlook etc… Some add-ins are installed in the Outlook and some need to borrow which are known as third-party apps.

How to find Outlook Add-ins

Browse your Outlook and visit “Tools” and move the cursor to “Trust Center

Click “Trust Center”, a new window will open, select “add in” where you can see many active and inactive application add-ins.

Active Application- These extensions are active and running on your system.

Inactive Application- They are available in your system but are not in running mode.

Disabling the Add-ins

Many of the add-ins you don’t want that can make Outlook slow. To get the speed of your Outlook back, you can disable unnecessary add-ins.

Go to “Tools” and then “Trust Center”

A new window will open, choose “Add ins” and then “Manage” option to select Com Add-ins and “Go” button.

A new window will open featuring all available add-ins, you are now able to either add or remove add-ins.

Some Default Add-ins of Outlook

While you configure the MS Outlook app, some add-ins are added by default. You are allowed to disable some of them that you don’t want. The default add-ins you will get is depended on the version you are using.

MS Exchange- The feature is added to your MS Outlook by default. If you don’t have Exchange account, it is not required.

Outlook Social Connector 2013- This is People Pane Feature shown at the bottom of Reading Pane. This is an excellent add-in because it allows Outlook to connect with social media platforms.

Business Connectivity Services- It allows to merge external SharePoint data in MS Outlook.

iTunes and iCloud are third party add-ins. If you are connecting your iPhone with Outlook, choose iTunes.
